The Mazda Furai is a concept car revealed on 27 December, 2007 and manufactured by Mazda.A teaser image of the vehicle was released on 11 December, 2007.The Furai officially debuts at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The Furai (風籟 Fūrai), meaning Sound of the wind, is the fifth and last of the Mazda Nagare line of concept cars that have been made by Mazda since 2006. The chassis is based on the Courage Compétition C65 Le Mans Prototype that Mazda last used to compete in the American Le Mans Series, two seasons previously and is designed to use E100 ethanol fuel, it is powered by a new generation 3-rotor wankel engine that puts out 450 bhp. The engine is developed and built by renowned rotary tuner, Racing Beat, who also built the car's rotary-shaped muffler canister.
The car bears the #55 number that of its 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans winning ancestor, the 787B. Unlike many concept cars, the Furai is fully functional and is currently being tested at various tracks. It has run at Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow.
Head designer, Laurens van den Acker, has stated in an interview with Top Gear magazine that there are possibilities of the Furai being used for racing in Le Mans, and he also has strong hopes that the car could be brought to the market.

Cadillac Converj Concept

The rumored Cadillac E-Flex concept was confirmed this morning at General Motor's 2009 Detroit Auto Show press conference. The concept's official name will be the Cadillac Converj and, as anticipated, it is based on the Chevy Volt platform.
The Converj concept is the latest rolling showcase for GM's extended-range electric propulsion system, which the company is now calling Voltec. The Converj features the same 16-kWh, T-shaped battery, electric drive unit, and four-cylinder engine-generator as the Volt. Thus, like the volt, the Converj will go 40 miles on emissions-free electric power. It then switches to the four cylinder engine to provide power to the motor and charge the lithium-ion battery.
Although the Converj is based on the Volt, the design, from GM's U.K. advanced design studio under the direction of Simon Cox, is pure Cadillac. Unlike the Volt sedan, it sports a coupe body style with seats for four passengers in a 2+2 layout. A small trunk is accessed through an even smaller opening. The overall shape resembles the CTS coupe concept that debuted at last year's show with a bit of the Cien show car mixed in. The design emphasizes aerodynamics, with minimal grille openings, a fully covered underbody, and slim cameras in place of rearview mirrors. The smallest Cadillac ever made, the Converj is some 10 inches shorter than the CTS coupe. The Converj is about the same length as the Volt but it's wider, due to the Cadillac's larger wheels and tires (21-inches up front and 22 inches at the rear).
Inside, the Converj is trimmed with white suede and black leather and there is a blue ambient glow throughout the cabin. The instrument cluster is illuminated with LEDs and touch-screens are used for navigation, climate, center-stack controls and audio systems. A screen placed high on the instrument panel displays surrounding images provided by cameras.
Although no production plans have been announced at this time, the Converj is intended to show the flexibility of the Voltec propulsion technology. It's also a window into GM's thinking as to where to take the Cadillac brand.

Aston Martin One-77 2009

Although it may seem ludicrous to launch a $1.9 million supercar in today's economic climate, the 2009 Aston Martin One-77 serves as a halo car for the iconic British brand.
"Quite simply it had to be the ultimate expression of Aston Martin," said CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez. "As you can now see, we have achieved that goal in magnificent style."
We'd have to agree. Though the sharp edges, quirky headlamps, and ribbed side panels may spur debate among Aston enthusiasts, the One-77 is refreshingly unique. Certain cues - notably the fluted grille and wrap-around taillights - are still present, but the car can't be mistaken for a "pedestrian" Vantage, DB9, or DBS.
The powertrain, it seems, is equally unique. Aston Martin engineers contracted with the geniuses at Cosworth Engineering to take the company's existing 6.0-liter V-12 as far as it can go. The result is a new 7.3-liter V-12, which Aston claims is good for 700+ hp. Incredibly, Cosworth also managed to reduce the engine's mass by 25 percent, helping improve the One-77's weight distribution.
Don't, however, look to row your own gears. The V-12 still sends its power to the rear wheels, but manages to do so via a new six-speed sequential manual transmission, complete with shift paddles mounted on the steering column. Although similar transmissions are offered on other Aston Martin cars, we're told this one was developed exclusively for the One-77, and may trickle down into the rest of the lineup.
We wouldn't expect a supercar to be without race-bred technologies, and the One-77 is no exception. Fully adjustable dampers, tuned for each customer prior to delivery, are standard equipment, as are carbon ceramic disc brakes. The latter will be particularly important, given the One-77 is expected to hit 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed in excess of 200 mph.
If this sounds like your kind of car, it's probably too late to get your hands on one. In spite of the $1.9 million price tag, we hear most, if not all, of the 77-car production run is already spoken for.

2009 Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic

Maserati's new model is for those who like the sportiness of the GranTurismo S, but didn't like the feel of the electrically-actuated gearbox. The 2009 Maserati GranTurismo S automatic adds a six-speed ZF automatic transmission for a smoother driving experience.
The new GranTurismo S Automatic features the same 4.7-liter V-8 found in the GranTursimo S. The V-8 produces 433 hp at 7000 RPM and 361 lb-ft of torque at 4750 RPM with a 7500 RPM redline. The major change lies with the automatic transmission paired with the most powerful V-8 offered on the GranTursimo lineup.
Originally the ZF six-speed transmission became available on the Quattroporte because of owners' complaints about the jerkiness of the electro-actuated auto-clutch manual transmission. Maserati learned from the experience and is hoping to sell more GranTurismos with the addition of the automatic transmission.
The automatic transmission gearshift setup receives elements from the Quattroporte Sport GT-S including the elimination of automatic kick-down in manual mode. The continuously adjustable Skyhook suspension is an option on the GranTurismo S Automatic just as on the normal GranTurismo S. The Skyhook suspension continuously adjusts the suspension to provide a more comfortable ride (or a sportier ride when in sport mode).
Look for more details about the Maserati GranTurismo S Automatic's pricing and on-sale date after it makes its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
