2010 SALEEN S7For those of you that have Saleen vehicles or parts, don't worry: Steve Saleen himself, and his new SMS Supercars company, are going to cover your warranty. Why would Mr. Saleen do that when he has absolutely no legal obligation to do so? "I would like to make a bold statement on the right way to treat customers," he says.
The glory days of Saleen, Inc. may never be revived, but at least Mr. Saleen and SMS Supercars will continue the tradition, even if it is under another name.
2011 Volkswagen Passat
The Volkswagen Passat is a large family car built by Volkswagen Passenger Cars through six design generations since 1973. Slotting between the Volkswagen Golf / Volkswagen Jetta, and the Volkswagen Phaeton in the current Volkswagen line-up, the Passat and its derivatives have been badged variously as Dasher, Santana, Quantum, Magotan, Corsar and Carat. In 2008, Volkswagen extended its range with the launch of the Passat CC, a "4-door coupé" version of the Passat. On January 9, 2010, Volkswagen announced that the New Midsize Sedan being built in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the North American market would be named the Passat.
The Passat was placed in the middle of the sedan/saloon market segment at its introduction in 1973. Sales of the aging Beetle were declining and larger air-cooled rear-engined models like the Volkswagen Type 3 and 411 and 412 were based on older technology. Following the Volkswagen Group's acquisition of Audi in 1964, Volkswagen used new engineering expertise to develop a modern front-wheel drive car with a water-cooled engine, and thus the Passat and Golf (the latter being introduced in 1974) were the first of a new generation of Volkswagen cars. The first Passat was developed partly from the Audi 80/Fox and, until 2005, the two shared a history. During its development phase, the Passat was designated internally as EA400 (Entwicklungsauftrag 400, or "Development Order 400"), and well before its launch, production of the Volkswagen Type 3 at the Wolfsburg plant had been stopped in order to free up capacity for the new car. Wolfsburg was able to ramp up production carefully: directly before Passat production started the lines were used to assemble small volumes of the car's Audi 80 sibling which had been launched a year earlier. The nameplate Passat derives from the German word for tradewind — and the period in its history when Volkswagen named vehicles after prominent winds, including also Golf (after the Gulf stream, Jetta (after Jet stream), and Scirocco (after Sirocco).

Audi’s full-size luxury sedan will be entering the 2011 model year with an overhaul fit to be called the vehicle’s third generation. This new model made its world debut in Miami at the Audi Pavilion in Miami Beach in 2009 with sales beginning in late 2010.
The 2011 Audi A8 is based on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform, but maintains its Audi Space Frame aluminum construction as the previous generation. A new engine will be introduced for this generation as the 6.3 liter W12 engine finds a home in the A8. As far as knick-knacks are concerned, the sedan will feature all light-emitting diode (LED) headlights, an enhanced Multi Media Interface with touchscreen, and an optional 1400 watt Bang & Olufsen sound system.
Audi says the new A8 is the sportiest sedan in the segment, aided by a low center of gravity and the lowest roofline of any German rival. Despite adding two inches to the length, width and wheelbase -- and one additional inch of height -- Audi reckons handling has actually improved.
The 4.2-liter FSI V8 motor will continue on under the hood of the A8 with a few revisions and modest power bump. The 372 horsepower unit also promises reduced fuel consumption by 15 percent. Coupled to the motor is a new eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission with manual mode. Manual gear selection is available via steering wheel rockers or by using the regular gear selection lever.
The A8 will also feature the newest version of Quattro, which features torque vectoring. This distributes drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability. An optional sport differential distributes power between the rear wheels for optimal performance under hard cornering.

For 2011, the BMW Z4 amps up its aggression with the introduction of a new sports-tuned trim and an M Sport Package. Last year, the BMW Z4 was named a finalist in Motor Trend's showdown for "Car of the Year." With this year’s upgrades, it might just take the cake.
The 2011 BMW Z4 is sleek, sexy, luxurious and powerful. Its handling dynamics aren’t as sports-oriented as class leaders, but it makes a stellar choice for folks more interested in luxury than all-out sports performance. In fact, Edmunds writes, "Sleek styling, a high-class interior and plenty of performance combine to make the 2011 BMW Z4 one of the most desirable luxury roadsters available."
For 2011, BMW enhances the Z4’s sports performance with M Sport Packages available for both the Z4 sDrive30i and sDrive35i. Plus, BMW introduces a whole new trim -- the Z4 sDrive35is, which features more power and greater sports handling. It’s unlikely that the 2011 BMW Z4’s upgrades will enable it to overtake the Porsche Boxster, but they sure makes the compromise between luxury and sports performance easier to swallow.
Other Sports Cars to Consider
The 2011 BMW Z4 will leave the majority of shoppers in the market for a luxury sports roadster satisfied -- especially with the all-new Z4 sDrive35is. It’s still as luxurious as before, but with the added bonus of greater sports performance.
Still, shoppers serious about road and track performance should consider the Boxster, the convertible sibling of the highly-acclaimed Porsche Cayman. The Boxster costs roughly the same as the 2011 BMW Z4, but its performance dynamics are more in tune with the road -- which makes for tighter handling. The Boxster also provides loads of more cargo room, making it a more practical buy. Just note that while the 2011 BMW Z4's standard hardtop is retractable, the Boxster's is optional and must be manually removed.

According to a Twitter update from the folks at Automobile, BMW will be ditching the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline-six in the base Z4 roadster in favor of a turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant. Big news, yes, but it doesn't come as much of a surprise since BMW has long flirted with the idea of using turbocharged four-pot mills in its base models like the Z4 sDrive30i and even the 328i.
Details are slim (curse you, 140-character limit), but Automobile states that because this new turbo four would replace the naturally aspirated six, at least 200 horsepower should be on tap. We'd expect a slightly higher output, since the current engine cranks out 255 horsepower and 220 pound-feet of torque. We certainly won't mind a turbocharged four-banger with gobs of low-end power under the hood of the Z4, and we'd expect to see this new mill show up within the next year.

Once the deal is finalized, the Canadian company could set up shop close to the Nano plant in Sanand. Tata could also consider bringing the second generation model to other markets in Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. CVs are nothing new in India, Honda used to provide it on their City.
But Tata could expose the gearboxes to a much wider market in India if it introduces it in the Nano, as it also offers other better mileage and a smoother driving experience than a traditional automatic. The smoother-shifting Nano is predicted to arrive in India in November this year.

Nissan Pixo features a KB-Series 998cc engine which is Euro 5-compliant with Co2 emissions and develops 67 Bhp @ 6200 rpm of power with 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm of torque. Nissan may launch a powerful variant of Pixo with 140 Bhp turbo charged 1500cc diesel engine. This new Nissan Pixo is expected to give about 18 kmpl on the highways and about 13 kmpl on the cities. It only takes about 6 secs to acclerate from 0 to 60 and also about 11 secs to acclerate from 0 to 100.
This new Nissan Pixo, which is a 5 Speed Manual Transmission Hatchback car, also features a MacPherson Strut, Isolated Trailing-link suspension in it. The major drawback of this new Nissan Pixo is that the height of dashboard is little bit high and may obstruct view of short drivers. Apart from this 5 Speed Manual Transmission, a 4 speed automatic transmission is also available with this Nissan Pixo.
